Resting after the Holidays

This is our baby, Gracie, she is the Princess around our house. She brings us so much joy and unconditional love. She got the spend the Holidays with Bella, Bax, and Cesar. You talk about toys and treats. We have some spoiled pups, but they are worth it. They all bring so much joy to our lives.

We had a little Christmas get together on Christmas eve. This has been a tradition for many years. Our sweet long time friends and my mom always save time on Christmas eve for each other. This is a tradition I alway look forward to. I love traditions. What is yours?

There are so many beautiful homes on the River.

Steve and I went to Natchitoches, Louisiana for the Christmas Festival of Lights on Saturday. Our youngest ( Jason) is a drummer in the Kilgore Ranger Band. Natchitoches is a beautiful area. This is were "Steel Magnolias" was filmed. We took pictures of the house where it was filmed. It does not do justice to the area. This is really a fun place to visit. Oh, I forgot to mention they are famous for Natchitoches meat pies that are so good.

Steve and I had a date night and went to see "The Blind Side". OK, this is one of the best movies we have ever seen. I say we because Steve loved it as much as I did. It just makes you want to do more for others. My favorite part is when Sandra Bullock's friends said Big Mike would really have his life changed because of her and her family, She said "no, he has changed mine". You should treat yourself and go see it, you will be glad you did.

Thanksgiving

It has been a wonderful Thanksgiving. My sweet daughter and son-in-law invited us for Thanksgiving at their home in Houston. They did all the cooking, and it was so good. It was a time to reflect on just how thankful I am for all the blessings we have and being able to spend it with my family.

My mom made slip covers for a couple of chairs I have. My mom is so talented, she can sew anything.

I am so excited, I have been looking for cane back chairs forever on Craig's list. I would find them and they would always be sold or out of my price range. I was in Tyler and went to a second hand furniture place and guess what they had? They had six cane back chairs in perfect condition. The best thing is the price, $12.50 a piece. What a deal. After a little white paint they are just perfect.

A week-end project. Steve and I built a pergola. This is not the completed project. We plan on putting flagstone down and have a seating area by the butterfly garden.
